Original 1860 Savage-North .36 Caliber Revolver, aka Savage "Navy" Revolver, Rare
Incredible find.
You will not find many of these especially in this beautiful condition.
6-Shot, Ring-Lever Cocked, Single Action Percussion Revolver, Civil War firearm..
Only made for two years during the war, 1860-1862.
Manufacturer marked on top of octagon barrel:
SAVAGE R.F.A. CO. MIDDLETOWN, CT H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17 1856 JANUARY 13 1859 MAY 15 1860
End of bore looks to be in good condition.
Conical steel post front sight with V-notch rear sight.
Mechanics work well, and as they should.
Original wood grips are in good condition considering age, right side has crack as shown.
"Heart shaped" trigger guard shows well.
Clean, no real powder / percussion burn or residue seen.
In original finish with no real pitting to mention.
Nipples are lightly compressed, but not mushroomed out.
Sharp screw heads as shown.
As an antique firearm we would consider this in very good condition.
Shows expected surface color loss, nothing terrible.
